Erika Slezak’s “General Hospital” Character Revealed! Meet Veronica “Ronnie” Bard, Monica’s Secret Sister

Erika Slezak’s September 2025 debut on General Hospital introduced Veronica “Ronnie” Bard, the previously unknown younger sister of Monica Quartermaine. After more than four decades portraying Victoria Lord Buchanan on One Life to Live, Slezak welcomed the opportunity to create a character with a completely different background and personality.

Slezak explained that executive producer Frank Valentini provided the first five scripts ahead of filming, allowing her to develop an understanding of Ronnie before arriving on set.

In Ronnie’s backstory, she and Monica lost their parents as children and were placed in separate foster homes. While Monica found a loving home with Gail Adamson Baldwin, Ronnie endured an unhappy upbringing. At sixteen, Ronnie sought out Monica, hoping they could reunite, but Monica rejected her.

Ronnie eventually established a life in Durham, North Carolina, working as a waitress while pursuing her education independently.

Her arrival in Port Charles brings her into conflict with Tracy Quartermaine, portrayed by Jane Elliot. Slezak spoke enthusiastically about working with Elliot and the challenge of portraying a woman unfamiliar with the wealthy Quartermaine family.

Unlike the confident Viki, Ronnie is uncomfortable in her new surroundings but possesses the determination to stand up for herself. Slezak appreciated the opportunity to explore a character so different from the one audiences had known for decades.
